Second-guessing the first appointment - are you serious?

This is the kind of thing this site was created to counteract. The election is less than 48 hours old and we're already second-guessing the president-elect's first appointment.

I used to work at a small company where management would hire salespeople and start sticking their noses into the salespeople's progress right away, rather than giving them some breathing room, letting them do their jobs, and then, after a reasonable period, evaluating their performance. Wouldn't that seem to be the right strategy here as well?

Besides, let's suppose many people agree that Rahm's temperament is not suited to the job of Chief of Staff. So what? Do we expect that Barack is going to change his mind at this point?

Let's give Rahm some breathing room and let him do his job. There will be plenty of time to evaluate his performance—rather than predict his problems—down the road.
